Subterrestrial

Gary says :
The second installment of Subterrestrial's series of hollow earth themed albums, "We Live Inside" is inspired by 19th century Utopian mystic Cyrus Reed Teed and his principle of "Cellular Cosmogony" or concave earth. Teed believed that the earth was not only hollow, but that we live on the inside surface.

Demian Johnston (Great Falls) teams up with Kevin Gan Yuen (Sutekh Hexen) for a blackened doom trip. Densely layered guitars and field recordings. Mastered by Pete Swanson.

Cough Cool’s debut tape on Sweat Lodge Guru, re-mastered with new art. Downercore bedroom-pop nuggets pulled from the ether of teenage memories and adult disappointments. Slow moving song mantras. Itchy frustration and sleepy ambition. Look for releases this year from Dan on Not Not Fun and Bathetic.

Nick Maturo and Ryan Connelly exploded out of Montreal last year with no less than 10 tapes of hazy guitar/synth drones. Just a Glimpse finds the duo experimenting with shorter edits and more diverse song-forms than their sidelong tape experiments. Picking a concept out of a jam and distilling it down to its purest part. Making feints and nods towards past heroes like Eno and Shulze but keeping pace with modern masters such as Tim Hecker and Emeralds.

Pearson Wallace-Hoyt has already carved out his place in the PNW experimental scene, whether it is working with all manner of artists, dancers, and musicians or co-directing the Seattle Occultural Music Festival. Recently, Pearson has begun taking over the rest of the world, dropping a 3” CDR on Kim Dawn and now releasing his doom opus Kristeater.

Lithomesh

Once I recorded inside a rain barrel. Now everything I record ends up sounding like it is inside a rain barrel. But that's not really that helpful.
The experiment usually takes over the sound and kills it, but sometimes something gets left over.
The second track, St. Catherine was prepared from a recording of a kid's 15 string zither played with chopsticks sortof like a hammered dulcimer.

LA Lungs

Epic new dark drone and new-new-age workouts from my favorite married couple Afterthought and Leeward Lung. Cryptic Snuggling is a leap forward into the deep waters of melancholy. The five initial tracks are a trip down the back roads of a torn psyche. Synths hover and dematerialize while strings circle and menace. Fog rolls in and pulls you closer to the sleeping dirt. You think “this would be fine place to die.” Yet, just as you let go, “Ruffled Rivers” picks you up and cradles you downstream.
“Ruffled Rivers” may just be the most beautiful thing I have every released and a towering 25 minute opus that shows just how amazing these wonderful artists have become. For fans of Popol Vuh, Curstallistas, Loren Chasse, Anduin, Xela…etc.

When Day Chokes The Night

The (slow drowning in the lights of devotional and cold) matière noire is an artistic performance where music, visuals and videos were created and improvised at the same time, in the same studio record room @ Studio Ka (North of France) on February 22th 2011.

Demian Johnston & Mink Stole

Demian Johnston of Great Falls, Playing Enemy, and the phenomenal Dead Accents label teams up with Mink Stole (Chris Negrete of Radiation 4) for a colossal mind-warp. Born in Seattle from one single take guitar/pedal improv by Demian, “Trailed & Kept” was then sent to Chris in LA to mangle how he saw fit. What resulted is a monumental mixture of drone, metal, and noise tied together with a rich dose of processed vocals, a mixture couldn’t have resulted from either of these artists working alone.
For fans of: Aethenor, How to Dress Well, Kevin Drumm, Pyramids, or Ajilvsga.

Expo '70

Two live sets from the 2009 East Coast tour that spawned the Immune 2xLP, "Where Does Your Mind Go?", between the touring duo of Justin Wright and Matt Hill (Umberto). Track 1 consist of the stellar set from Ithaca, NY two days prior to the Immune Recording, headliners were Blues Control that night. Track 2 is the last set the duo played the last day of tour in the afternoon at WNYU in Manhattan, NY on less sleep than you can imagine. This set of live shows aptly named "Blackout" after a show at the now defunct New Market Hotel as part of an anti-CMJ show where the duo blacked out, probably scaring half the people responsible for the venue and show.

CDR issue of the live Expo ’70 tape on Sonic Meditations, re-mastered for CD with expanded artwork.

Bartosz says :
Winter Ambient Works originated from, who would have thought, winter. I would stare into the endless white of the horizon and watch the endless commotion of blurred entities. No faces, no identities. Struggling not to be consumed by the white monster but still failing miserably. Powerless, that's the best way how you can put it. Yet, throughout the overwhelming amounts of snow and wickedly low temperatures, I always saw the more subtle, let's say esoteric, side of it all. I tried to incorporate this more melancholic sound into this work. Hope it worked out all right.

The idea behind Winter Remix Works came to me shortly after the release of the original – Winter Remix Works (on Assonance Records) mainly because I was bored and annoyed with the album, but I still felt that something could be done with it. That’s when all the lovely people, mainly from the Avalanchers board, agreed to participate in the remix album. Finally my awful music would become listenable as it was worked on by the gifted people from England, Finland, France and Slovakia. Help with artwork came from Canada. I salute you all. Thank you for making this happen.

Rapaz Nuvem

Rapaz Nuvem is a project I started a few months ago (back in June 2010, I think). I wouldn't tag my music as "progressive electronic", although my main influences are people like Klaus Schulze, Edgar Froese, Jean Michel Jarre or Peter Baumann. "Demonstração" (portuguese for 'demonstration') is my self-released debut. My music combines early 70's electronic inspirations with Drone structures and psychedelic atmospheres; I think it sounds like something new.

My name is Eddie Entropy, I have a new album of industrially-tinged drone with emotionally exhausted vocals coming out soon on the Dark Winter net label.

The Slaves

The Slaves are a girl/boy duo from Portland OR trading in gothic drones and slowed down 50’s pop and surf. Using voice, feedback, and synths Barbra Kinzle and Birch Cooper create an overwhelming and melancholic beauty. Mastered by Matt Carlson of Golden Retriever

Essentially a perfect album. I was floored by them live and I am totally floored by this…like a heavier My Bloody Valentine without the drums and Kevin Shields... or something.

Bleak Russian Soundscape

Ben says :
Two producers from the east of england specialising in sample-heavy noise music that draws heavily from Drone producers, such as Stars of the Lid, Sunn O))) and Boris, however predominantly utilising samples, synth, and ocassional vocals. This album is a departure from the last, introducing heavily distorted guitars, vocals, and dreamy shoegaze style interludes.
